Roastery
We’re roasting your next coffee here. Take a peek behind the scenes.
The roastery is the beating heart of Nordbeans. It proudly stands behind every cup you enjoy at home, in a café, or at the office.
We believe that each cup of coffee tells its own story. The roastery’s role in this story is to honor the work of the farmers and unlock the potential of every bean, so you can enjoy a cup of coffee just the way you like it.
What does the work of the roastery look like?
"The work of the roastery begins on farms in some of the most fascinating corners of the world. We place great emphasis on long-term collaboration with farmers. This allows you to enjoy your favorite coffees from fresh harvests every year. Together, we also contribute to the sustainable development of specialty coffee production.
Next is the roasting process, a fascinating combination of science, craft, and sensory skill. Each coffee requires a unique roasting approach that reveals its character to you.
Quality control is also an essential part of the process and takes place with every roasted batch. We value the work of everyone who has put effort into producing our coffee, so we ensure it always reaches you fresh and in top condition, allowing you to enjoy the final steps of its journey with ease.

Nordbeans
You can recognize Nordbeans coffees by their black bags. They are especially delightful for fans of modern, light-roasted coffees with fruity flavors. We categorize them by roasting into coffees for espresso and filtered coffee.
Espresso coffees are identifiable by their colorful labels featuring Jizera Mountain animals, each representing the character of the coffee— the clever fox, the elegant owl, the wild lynx, and the majestic stag.
Filtered coffees showcase the faces of the producers and farmers behind each coffee. We believe they play the biggest role in shaping the coffee’s character, and therefore they deserve their spotlight.
Nordbeans coffees are among the best that specialty coffee has to offer. We select them from top producers and farmers with whom we have long-term partnerships. The range of these coffees follows the harvest rhythm in producing countries. Often, they come in very limited quantities. That’s why the offerings in black bags are frequently updated.
New Standard
You can recognize the New Standard line by its white bags. You will fall in love with these coffees if you are looking for a stable, sweet coffee with a full flavor—whether for espresso, a moka pot, or brewed coffee.
All coffees are roasted one degree darker than Nordbeans coffees. This way, they maintain their natural character while achieving much higher sweetness, a fuller body, and lower acidity.
The packaging features the faces of the producers and farmers behind each coffee. They were one of the main reasons we launched the New Standard line.
For this line, we aim to source coffees from the same producers from whom we purchase the best coffees for Nordbeans. However, no farmer in the world produces only top-quality coffees. In fact, for most of them, these micro-lots represent only a small part of their overall production.
The New Standard line allows us to buy a much larger portion of their harvest that still has above-average quality. We also strive to purchase coffees as directly as possible, ensuring that the largest portion of the premium price goes directly to the farmers. This way, they have the opportunity to sustainably develop their production in the long term.
Nordbeans Stars
In this line, we are fortunate to bring you the ultimate Crème de la Crème of the specialty coffee world. These are limited editions of exotic varieties and processing methods that redefine what specialty coffee can taste like.
They are characterized by their complex, bright, and clean flavors. We roast them using the special Stronghold technology, which allows us to have maximum control over every variable of the roasting process in small batches.
The character of these coffees shines best when prepared as filtered coffee.
These coffees offer a truly exclusive experience. Most of them are produced in very limited quantities, attracting interest from top roasteries around the world. We are proud to be able to present these coffees on the Czech market thanks to our long-term efforts and collaboration with farmers.
Sweet City
The Sweet City brand is easily recognized by its mountain-themed bag design. It serves as a gateway into the world of specialty coffees for lovers of traditional, dark-roasted coffee with low acidity.
For this brand, we always select coffees from fresh harvests to ensure they are available throughout the entire season. The darker roasting style gives the coffees a full body, high sweetness with notes of bitter chocolate, and very low acidity.
These coffees are perfect for espresso and automatic coffee machines, but they also shine in moka pots or French presses.
The quality and consistent flavor of these coffees are ensured by the entire roastery team, who place the same emphasis on quality control as they do with all other coffees.
So you can be assured that you will always receive fresh and consistent specialty coffee.

Take a peek behind the scenes of the roastery
A day in the roastery has a clear structure, yet each day is unique in its own way.
Every morning begins with roasting your orders to ensure that the coffee reaches you as quickly as possible. Roasting usually takes up the entire morning. After lunch, we focus on quality control. We measure each roasted batch and taste them through cupping. At the same time, we fine-tune and discover the best profile for new coffees that are about to be added to our offerings.

These guys care about every bean
Radek Kolombo
Ráďa has been with us since nearly the beginning of Nordbeans. He started as a delivery driver but gradually began assisting Martin in the roastery. Over the years, he worked his way up to become our head roaster. Radek successfully completed the prestigious certification and is one of only two active Q-Graders in the Czech Republic. He is also responsible for quality control of all our coffees.
